The NZ Festival of Motor Racing was held over the last two weekends of January 2012 in celebration of BMW Motorsport. The Festival marked the significant contribution by BMW and BMW Motorsport into the New Zealand Motor Racing, it was a remarkable event for any BMW or classic car enthusiast, with a few notable cars being released from the BMW Museum in Munich, Germany, exclusively for this event. These car's bought back memories for the likes of Chris Amon who was able to sit in the BMW 3.0 CSL "Batmobile" reminiscing of those earlier race days. The BMW M1 was not only a spectacular sight to see in the flesh, but also to hear it on the track was unbelieveable. There was a fantastic range of BMW's and classic cars on display from the old E28 M5 through to the latest M5, and all BMW's in between, Lamborghini Diablo's, Mustang's, Chevrolette's, Mercedes AMG, Nissan R35 Skyline, Classic Porsches...the list goes on.

The Meguiar's BMW Show and Shine delivered a range of cars from pre-1980's through to today, which all had one thing in common - their owners are avid BMW enthusiasts - thus making the judges final decisions much harder. Infact the judges had to find just the smallest fault on a vehicle in order to decide on a winner.

The event attracted over 350 race cars, with what is believed to have been the biggest gathering of BMW's at one time, in the world. The guy's from Germany couldn't believe it!
