If you like Hot Rods, Classic Cars, Muscle Cars and Bikes then you must attend the Annual Beach Hop Rock ‘n’ Roll, nostalgia festival!

We always look forward to the Beach Hop where huge numbers of amazing cars and fun loving car enthusiasts from all over the country come together to celebrate the Golden Era. The Beach Hop is also a perfect environment for our technical and sales team to get out there with the enthusiasts and talk about cars and projects they have underway.

Held in the ever popular seaside holiday destination – Whangamata the five day festival is a treat for the old and young, with something for everyone to take part in. The festival celebrates everything that was great about the 50’s and 60’s including music, culture, fashion, hotrods, dancing, motorbikes, dragster and scooters.

The five day nostalgia festival saw over 100,000 people of all ages pour into the Coromandel peninsula destinations, with 1,100 cars registered and many others attending the various cruises to Waihi, Tairua, Onemana and of course the Whangamata town centre, for car shows and  Rock ‘n’ Roll music. There were bands including a few names from Australia, such as Rikki Wood, Retro Rockets, the Flattrakkers and Flyin Saucers, plus many well known in New Zealand Retro bands.

The Beach Hop is also famous for its promotional cars that are given away and auctioned each year. This year was no exception; with lucky winner Michelle from Cheviot in the south island taking home a 1930 Ford Model A painted in Lunar Yellow from the all new House of Kolor Shimrin II range to be released later this year. The other promotional vehicle, a black 1957 Ford Fairlane went up for auction where it sold for $36,000.

The event as always is one not to be missed, so we will see you all there next year.
